What is Menopause?
Menopause is when a woman’s ovaries no longer make estrogen and progesterone, two important hormones needed for a woman’s health and vitality.
The years leading up to menopause are called perimenopause. This phase can last for up to 10 years. Menopause is defined as the absence of menstrual periods for one year.
The normal age range for menopause is 45 to 55 years old, with the average age of 51 years old. However, women who might smoke or are underweight tend to experience menopause earlier.
